San Diego Snowstorm! {Family Portraits San Diego}

Sawyer is my little buddy featured below.  He watched me as I set up the studio in their kitchen while everyone was busy getting ready, and asked me quite a few intelligent questions – especially for a 4-year-old!  We had a nice little chat!  Apparently this little guy is usually quite shy when he first meets someone, so to be that talkative in a matter of minutes was new to the rest of the family!  I’m glad he was that comfortable around me since I was able to capture some fun expressions during his solo!

For this holiday photo session we created our very own snowstorm right here in San Diego! Suzanne had the inspiration for the gray background with the family playing in the snow, complete with winter gear – so cute! I came prepared with my studio gear, which I rarely get to use for family sessions anymore. I love to do custom sessions, especially when they turn out this fantastic in the end!

Holiday Hilarity {Family Portraits San Diego}

This holiday session highlight features the fantastic Rochholz family! Every year, I look forward to doing their holiday session because I know we are going to come up with something unique and amazing – Tamara is so creative! This year we played around with a goofy theme and even brought out the mouth tape :) These were some holiday cards sure to make an impression!

Eddie + Esse got hitched! {Wedding San Diego}

For once I wanted to start a post with a picture rather than words, because this picture just doesn’t need any! I love love LOVE Esse’s understated Mona Lisa-ish smile here!

It’s going to be hard to write this one without using the word love way too much…there was just so much of it going around at this beautiful blessed event! Seeing and trying to capture the connection between Eddie and Esse was such a joy and it made their wedding truly special.

(This amazing arch inspired the details of the wedding – lots of elegant swirls and seashells.)

Eddie and Esse both have incredibly big hearts and the love they’ve given is clearly returned by the wonderful friends and family that surrounded them throughout the day. (Esse has nannied about 12 children and just became mom to Eddie’s beautiful daughter as well!)

From the moments with their closest friends getting ready, to the farewell from the last guest, excitement and well wishes surrounded this gorgeous couple.

Humphrey’s on Shelter Island made a lovely backdrop to the “I Do”s (and everyone on staff was delightful and gracious as well!). Not too much hesitation in relinquishing Esse to Eddie’s capable hands :) !

It was apparent how close these two keep their families and friends by the amount of love going around the reception.  Eddie’s best man “got something in his eye” during his toast, Esse’s father showed off his abundant love for his beautiful daughter in what was possibly the longest. toast. ever ;-)   and Esse’s sister’s sentiments caused gasping and tears (good ones!).  And that was only the toasts. Primo DJs did an amazing job keeping the party going and Eddie+Esse also had me bring the photobooth for some reception fun!! Check back soon for a highlights reel!

There were so many perfect moments that day, but their love for each other truly outshone everything else – it’s clear these two were made for each other!

Brilliant Beachy Brausas {Family Portraits San Diego}

You would think I was paying people to get all of these good-looking families on the blog (seriously, scroll down)!  This fun beach session was a photographer’s dream: gorgeous family, brilliant smiles, beautiful light, and no crowds! I took this family’s photos two years ago when Cassidy was just born, and since then these two kiddos have apparently been very busy getting bigger!  Tyler has turned into a very proper 4-year-old. He was so well-behaved and I couldn’t get enough of those giggles and smiles! Before Cassidy went on her merry way to explore the beach like a typical 2-year-old, we managed to get some great expressions from her, too!  The family’s outfits looked great against the background, we had amazing diffused light, and it was threatening to rain so we also had the entire place for ourselves – session perfection!

The Good Sisters {Children Portraits San Diego}

These pretty ladies were a joy to photograph.  Rachel’s previous modeling experience was a help with posing for the camera – no shyness holding that one back! Little Sophia was so independent and active, getting her to sit still and pose was another story all together! The special bond between these girls was so sweet, and Sophia just lit up whenever big sister tried to make her laugh. The toughest part? Getting Sophia to stop watching big sister long enough to pose WITH her! My favorite thing in this session? Sophia’s fantastic pink boots!!
